ZeptoLab Aims to Create Its Next Smash Hit With New Midcore IP

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- Jan. 23, 2015 -- ZeptoLab®, the global gaming company behind the world-famous Cut the RopeĀ® franchise, today announces its next major title and challenges gamers everywhere to become the King of Thieves.

King of Thieves, launching for free on iOS this February, marks the company's expansion into the midcore mobile gaming market with a challenging and unique multiplayer title. The game will offer an entirely new, hybrid multiplayer gameplay style, combining the top-quality art and animations that helped to make Cut The Rope a success with elements from genres like platformers and tower defense games.

The Cut the Rope series is one of mobile gaming's most successful franchises, with over 600 million downloads across the titles. ZeptoLab's iconic character Om Nom has been brought to life for gamers around the world, appearing in other digital media, branded retail products and most recently in My Om Nom, a virtual pet game that has been at the top of the charts since its release in December 2014. With King of Thieves, ZeptoLab is leveraging the skills and experience it has developed creating and maintaining one of the most successful casual games in the world to target expanded, midcore gaming audiences.

“ Today's mobile market is much different from when ZeptoLab introduced Cut the Rope and we first established our reputation as a leading mobile game company,” said Misha Lyalin, CEO of ZeptoLab. “ While we will always be committed to growing the successful and beloved Cut the Rope franchise, our main objective is to innovate with new, challenging games that players will love. King of Thieves is a modern game that introduces brand new ideas to the industry, which we have developed and extensively tested for over two years in order to grow our community of fans and expand the ZeptoLab brand.”

King of Thieves establishes a new type of player-vs-player game by combining various features from popular genres in a competitive multiplayer wrapper. Players run and jump to dodge deadly traps, competing to break into each other's customizable dungeons and accumulate enemies' gems and gold in asynchronous gameplay. The title will test players' fingers as well as their brains, allowing them to create their own custom defense to keep their hoard safe. King of Thieves' asynchronous gameplay and persistent world encourage meaningful multiplayer experiences, as players form rivalries and compete to increase their leaderboard ranking, unlocking upgrades and new traps.

King of Thieves is the first in a series of new IPs ZeptoLab will be announcing this year. In addition to creating unique titles in-house, the company plans to work with respected third party studios to bring top-quality games of all types to the market.

King of Thieves will be released on the App Store this February. Look out for additional details coming soon and see a sneak peek at the game here!
