Rocket Fuel Games and ZeptoLab announce a partnership to bring Cut the Rope and its star, Om Nom, to Roblox in Cut the Rope Tower Defense, a new tower defense experience. The game is in development now and arrives on Roblox soon.
Cut the Rope Tower Defense takes the Roblox tower defense structure millions of players already know — a lobby, a campaign across themed worlds, crafting, collection and unit evolution — and rebuilds the combat around physics. Instead of static towers pouring invisible damage into a health bar, players place craftable contraptions that make something physical happen on the table. A rope tower swings candy across a lane to redirect enemies. A gravity-bubble tower slows a wave to a crawl. A chain-cut tower drops a hazard the moment it is triggered. Placement becomes a physics problem rather than a stat problem, and players can watch exactly what a contraption will do before they commit to it.
Units work the same way. Every character in the roster brings a distinct physics behaviour to the battlefield alongside its attack — swinging candy, gravity fields, chain triggers, sticky candy that slows a wave — so a collection reads as a set of contraptions with visibly different play feels rather than a spreadsheet of damage numbers. Players craft permanent contraption blueprints, collect and evolve characters from the Om Nom Stories cast, and defend Nomville world by world against the Evil Spider and a roster of villains drawn straight from the series.
The game is designed mobile-first for the global Roblox audience: landscape play, one simple tap-to-place gesture, and wordless visual comedy that reads in any language.
“Some of the strongest experiences on Roblox come from teams who build for the platform rather than adapt to it. An experience with an IP as well-loved as Cut the Rope with a mix of fresh mechanics at its core, is the kind of innovation our platform welcomes and our community responds to,” said Duncan Campbell, Developer Relations, Roblox.
Game design is led by Wes Leviton, who shipped SpongeBob Tower Defense, winner of Best IP Experience at the 2025 Roblox Innovation Awards.
“Cut the Rope has always run on ropes, arcs and timing — players already think in terms of what a single cut will set off. That instinct is a tower defense game waiting to happen. Tower defense is also the most demanding genre on Roblox to get right, and it is the one we know best. We are not reskinning a genre; we are rebuilding its combat on the physics this franchise invented,” said Fahad Moeen, CEO of Rocket Fuel Games.
“Om Nom has found audiences across mobile, animation and merchandise, and Roblox is where a huge part of our next generation of players already spends its time. We were looking for a partner who would build something native to the platform rather than port a mobile game onto it. Rocket Fuel's approach respects what makes Cut the Rope recognisable while doing something genuinely new with it,” said Ekaterina Baturina, Head of Business Development at ZeptoLab.
Cut the Rope has been downloaded more than 1.8 billion times since its 2010 debut. Om Nom Stories runs to more than 290 episodes and is distributed on multiple channels, including YouTube and Disney+, with humour that is almost entirely non-verbal — a natural fit for Roblox.
Cut the Rope Tower Defense is coming soon to Roblox.
